(IntegrityWeather.com) — A strong belt of southwesterly flow will promote repeated rounds of convection tonight and extending through Friday night.
Tonight:
The initial wave of storms will continue to track northeastward through central Iowa before a gradual decay in activity by Friday morning.
The setup may lead to scattered instances of flash flooding tonight through Friday morning with total widespread rainfall amounts to generally range between 0.50 and 1.50 inches, locally higher totals over the center of Iowa.
Friday:
A secondary round of initial scattered severe thunderstorms is forecast to impact areas before transitioning to a heavy rainfall threat Friday night.
While some minor adjustments to the main risk area may be needed in future updates, conditions featuring increasingly saturated soil will overlap with training thunderstorms and in turn may initiate scattered flooding.
