(IntegrityWeather.com) — A cold front will continue to navigate eastward today with a risk for very large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. Adjustments have been made early this afternoon to reflect where highest confidence aligns.
An initial round of convection should continue to push northeastward from east Iowa through Wisconsin and Illinois capable of large hail and damaging wind gusts through early this afternoon.
Then a secondary round is forecast to develop by late afternoon extending from southeast Minnesota through eastern Iowa and to northern Missouri with an initial threat for large hail over 2 inches in diameter and some tornado risk.
By this evening, a transition toward primarily damaging winds and spin-up tornadoes should occur as the main wave of convective activity shifts eastward across Wisconsin and Illinois.
Given the repeated rounds of storms and some training that may occur, scattered instances of flash flooding will be possible through tonight with the most concentrated corridor over southeast Iowa to northeast Missouri.
