(IntegrityWeather.com) — A shortwave trough is forecast to eject into the central Plains this afternoon, providing another round of severe thunderstorms, particularly over eastern Nebraska to west/southwest Iowa.
A large risk area has been maintained today due to persistent run-to-run inconsistencies within recent forecast guidance, which has limited overall forecast confidence for today’s setup.
However, any scattered cells that materialize within this environment will be capable of producing large hail and severe gusts exceeding 60 mph
A more concentrated severe threat may evolve after 4pm this afternoon into the evening extending from east/northeast Nebraska and tracking east/southeastward into western Iowa.
Threats for large hail, damaging wind gusts of 60-80 mph and given the enhanced low-level shear profiles toward sunset, embedded brief/weak tornadoes will be possible.
