An upper-level trough is forecast to shift across the northern Plains on Wednesday, with an associated cold front advancing southeastward.
Strengthening mid-level flow ahead of the front will likely support scattered severe storms capable of producing large hail (1.00+ inch diameter) and damaging wind gusts (60+ mph).
A brief, low-end tornado threat cannot be ruled out depending on the degree of low-level shear and moisture recovery along the frontal zone.
Some adjustments to the risk area may be needed as we move through the earlier portion of the week.
