A shortwave trough embedded within northwest flow will shift across the central plains and mid-Mississippi valley tonight through Tuesday morning.
Forcing for ascent attendant to this feature will support an area of light to moderate wet snow developing over portions of eastern Nebraska and western/central Iowa after 7pm.
Thermal profiles suggest a heavy, wet snow consistency with accumulations generally ranging from 1-4 inches within the core of the precipitation swath.
Slippery travel conditions are expected through the Tuesday morning commute before activity tapers off by midday.
