Integrity Weather Group has issued a SHORT TERM DISCUSSION for areas shaded above.
Date: 4/9/26 at 7:01am Central
Timing: Today through Friday morning…
Discussion: A progressive surface low is forecast to eject into the Central Plains today, dragging a stalled frontal boundary across a corridor stretching from Kansas through central/southeast Iowa.
While scattered showers are expected later today over Iowa, a more robust convective evolution is anticipated by this evening.
Widespread rainfall totals of 0.50″ to 1.50″ are likely along and north of the boundary, providing beneficial moisture to NE Kansas and the southeast half of Iowa.
Additionally, isolated to scattered convection is expected to initiate across portions of Kansas by this evening capable of small to large hail and wind gusts of 40-60 mph.
10 mile rule: The alert discussions issued on this site are based on a 10 mile radius. You may or may not see the event, but it means you are in the zone or 10 miles from where someone will.
