(IntegrityWeather.com) — An omega block pattern will continue to support multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms across the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa through the upcoming weekend.
Today/Tonight:
A cold front is forecast to trigger scattered severe thunderstorms this afternoon over parts of South Dakota supportive of large hail, damaging wind gusts of 60-65 mph, and a low-end tornado threat.
Elsewhere, secondary thunderstorm development is anticipated this afternoon and evening across parts of Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa with an initial threat for isolated large hail.
Friday:
Eastern Nebraska through Iowa will become the primary focus for scattered severe storms beginning during the afternoon and extending through the evening.
While large hail and damaging winds will be the main hazards, some tornado threat is certainly possible given an increased in low-level shear profiles.

Extended Outlook:
Additional rounds of showers and storms will sweep across the Midwest and plains beginning this weekend and extending through the early portion of next week.
A focus for heavier rains is expected through the short to medium range.
